MEET ONYINKAN

● Tell us about you and what you do

I go by Oyinkan Braimoh, I am a wife and a blessed mum of 3 delightful and amazing boys. I am also the creative mind and founder of MYPLUSMIX. A fantastic and passionate cook who loves to entertain and make my home a relaxing place for family and friends.

● Why did you decide to be an entrepreneur?

As a mother, one of my most cherished moments is time spent with my family eating around the dinner table. I particularly want the time to be enjoyed by myself, my hubby and of course the children because I want each of us to enjoy our meal without anyone feeling left out. Hubby and I love chilli but my children don’t enjoy their meals if the food is too spicy. I decided to find a way to bridge the gap and therefore decided to venture to make my own chilli sauce which can be added to meals at the table to enhance the taste of my and hubby’s food. I then realised that when we have guests, they also love the extra kick my chilli sauce gives to their meals as well. Hence, with lots of encouragement and lots of cheering, I put the product out to the wider public and it has been amazingly accepted by chilli fans.

● What inspired the idea of your brand?

This product came about as a quest to find a balance to a pleasant experience for every member of the family during meal time.

● What motivates you and what are the principles that guide your business?

Often times I have wanted to throw in the towel as it’s not easy to be one person answering too many calls but when I get remarkable feedback from total strangers who say they have my product and speak amazing things about the product, it gives me a renewed vibe and energy to keep going.

What has been your greatest entrepreneurial success?

My Greatest entrepreneurial success has been that myplusmix products have stood the test of time. Started in 2017 and has been loved by many, growing through word of mouth. It has travelled all over the continents from London, Lagos, Dubai, Australia, Ireland, America, Madeira and South Africa.

What is your favourite aspect of being a female entrepreneur?

I love the fact that I can be a source of motivation to other women who want to break out and do things that can be impactful. My children see my hard work and are always very proud of my achievements. I love the fact that am living a legacy of doing something that has touched many lives.

What is the most challenging part of being a female entrepreneur?

For me being a female entrepreneur can be quite a challenging and daunting role, especially in the UK and perhaps even in other parts of the world as women wear many hats. We are a source of comfort to many. We tend to juggle a lot of balls at the same time as a result, we find that we are split between many roles and most times find ourselves overstretched with little or no time to care for ourselves or recharge.

How is your work is changing lives?

I believe my products bring people together especially when sharing meals together.
