ABOUT WOMEN FOR MORE
There’s a quote that says -
“There is no limit to what we, as women, can accomplish.” – Michelle Obama
Truly, there’s no limit to what WOMEN. Every Woman has the incredible strength, resilience, and potential that lies within her.
A lot of women at first glance seem to cope well with the demands of life. They’ve learned to juggle their many roles and responsibilities but what people don’t see is the fault line on the inside that puts pressure on everything else. This faultline may be an abusive past (or present), grief over a death or broken relationship, burnout, loneliness or some sort of emptiness.
Taking back control of ones life after having escaped a toxic relationship is incredibly difficult. Learning to trust yourself, your talents and believing in your worth as an independent, whole person is a constant struggle, especially if you are trying to do that on your own.
“Out of the mountain of despair, a stone of hope.” – Martin Luther King Jr.
No matter how deep the pain or how high the barriers, there is always the potential for transformation, healing, and growth. It’s about finding the strength to take that first step, even when the path seems uncertain. But, the simple choices we make in life can either strengthen or weaken our goals and aspirations but everyone deserves a chance to get it right in life and this is the opportunity WOMEN FOR MORE INTERNATIONAL is committed to give WOMEN - Domestic Abuse Survivors, single and struggling women, women who are going through hard times and pains with their children. This is because we are MADE FOR MORE!
THE STORY BEHIND WOMEN FOR MORE
The name Women For more holds deep personal significance and reflects the very essence of our mission. It was inspired by our founder’s late dad. Who believed in her and always remind her at the time.
Women For More is a reflection of the strength, resilience, and limitless potential that every woman carries within herself. The name comes from a deeply personal place - my father’s unwavering belief in me, especially during the hardest moments of my life, when I was navigating an abusive relationship. He always reminded me, “You’re made for more, you will come out stronger, you will succeed and you will shine”.
To me, Women For More means that every woman deserves to realize her worth, embrace her power, and break free from the limitations placed on her by circumstance, society, or past trauma. It’s about encouraging women to reclaim their confidence, to heal, and to pursue a future filled with opportunity, self-love, and empowerment.
At Women For More, we are not defined by our struggles. We are defined by the strength we find in ourselves and the belief that we are capable of achieving far more than we might ever imagine. This is a space where women support each other to grow, rise, and know that they are truly made for more.
WOMEN FOR MORE INTERNATIONAL was founded in February, 2023 after my Dad’s demise.
I remember shame I carried as an intelligent, articulate woman, who had been a successful entrepreneur before relocating to the UK which affected my confidence and self esteem.
In the moments when she was at rock bottom, I vowed that if I was ever to survive this situation and go on to create any kind of success for myself, then I would use my voice and be a change agent to support and inspire other Women to overcome adversity, particularly in the field of domestic abuse recovery.
One of my favourite quotes - “I can be changed by what happens to me, but I refuse to be reduced by it.” – Maya Angelou
At Women For More, this quote is a reminder that while we may be changed by the hardships we face, whether it’s healing from trauma, rebuilding our lives after loss, or overcoming barriers. We are not defined or reduced by them. We are made for more than the sum of our struggles.
After working closely with different women from different backgrounds for 7 years. She realized there’s a lot of Women who feel stuck in their businesses, careers and find it difficult in achieving their goals. Some are DV Survivors who still lack confidence, some are single mothers who are suffering from isolation and societal barriers and with their children.
Adebukola conducted research and, based on her experiences in the refuge, discovered that the World Health Organization (WHO) reported that 736 million women worldwide face domestic abuse, with 41% of these being immigrants. In 2023, United Nations reported that an average of 140 women and girls were killed by a family member or intimate partner each day. This amounts to roughly 85,000 women and girls killed. Of these homicides, 60%—approximately 51,000—were committed by an intimate partner or other family member.
During the pandemic she appreciated the power of freedom and safety and remembered those who might be in an abusive relationship and this prompted her to raise funds in 2020 to support few women in the refuge - Choices in Kent and Sunflower in Hertfordshire.
